POSITION TITLE: Civil Engineer

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position available for an unlicensed civil/environmental engineer with a preference in basic civil site work, utility (water, wastewater and stormwater management) and water resource management / engineering design work.  Work includes some basic civil site and grading work; utility work with emphasis on wastewater/water and stormwater management.   Initial duties include conducting field work and basic research; assisting with the preparation of preliminary engineering plans/reports; drafting/designing civil engineering plans with supporting calculations, quantity takeoffs/cost estimating, and bid specifications.  Project work to include preliminary engineering reports through design documents, permits, bidding, construction and operations. Travel required on a limited basis to support ongoing engineering projects, within the State of Hawaii and abroad for our Federal Department of Defense and National Park Service work.

This position is dedicated to an unlicensed engineer interested in the consultant business with the goals of developing technical excellence and client satisfaction through being a part of an emerging and growing firm.  Applicants will be required to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with other staff and design team members, subconsultants, and government agencies.  Characteristics of this position include a continued dedication to learning as well as being able to be part of an effective design team, deliver successful projects on time and under budget, and being able to work under pressure.  Other responsibilities include: promoting Kaula AE through exposure at local conferences and involvement in local technical associations.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Bachelor of Science or Master in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university and 1 - 4 years experience. No license required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:  None required.  However, previous experience in the design field with other engineering consulting firm is desired.

SKILLS: 

  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD)
  • Basic surveying knowledge.
  • Applicants must possess communication and organizational skills.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Salary compensatory on experience. Range from $30.00/hour to $40.00/hour, based on work experience.  Standard benefits provided upon request, after application received.
